Ovary semicircular, commonly D-shaped, glabrous, 3–4 mm long, style with terminal insertion, 13–20 mm long. Fruit a legume, dehiscent, triangular (cymitiform), without a protuberance, compressed, 5.5 × 2 cm, stipitate, nectary disc not persistent, glabrous, glands present, veins present, not winged.

Phenology —Collected in flower between November and December and in fruit between March and May.

Distribution and habitat— Peltogyne angustiflora is widely distributed in the Atlantic Forest, in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and southern Bahia ( Fig 3 View FIGURE 3 ).

Taxonomic comments— Peltogyne angustiflora is characterized by its smooth bark, attenuate leaf base, stamens of different sizes, and cymitiform fruits. Due to its large size (~ 27 m), this species is sometimes confused with P. confertiflora due to the shape of the inflorescence and buds. However, P. confertiflora has bark with longitudinal grooves, a rounded base (with the petiole not inserted at the end), stamens of the same size, and triangular fruits.

Etymology—angusti, narrow; flora, flower.
