Type species: Eutettix irroratus Osborn, 1923 View in CoL , by original designation.

Length: 5.7–8.8 mm.

Coloration: Body usually brown dorsally and ventrally. Crown yellow or light brown, with dark brown and orange maculae and spots ( Figs. 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotum brown, with light brown, yellow, or orange spots and maculae ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Mesonotum brown, with light brown, yellow, or white spots and maculae ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 , 2A View FIGURE 2 ). Forewing translucent; veins brown; with dark brown and transparent maculae over the surface ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2A–B View FIGURE 2 ).

External morphology: Crown short, not produced anteriorly; transocular width subequal to pronotum width; discal portion of crown glabrous; coronal suture visible, not reaching or extending beyond midlength of crown; frontal region convex in lateral view, upturned or not; transition of crown to face angled; anterior margin of head with transverse carinae; lateral frontal suture reaching ocellus; ocellus medium to large sized; close to eyes, separated from eye by less than a third the distance from eye to crown apex; on anterior margin of head: eye with mesal margin entire ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2A–B View FIGURE 2 ). Antennal ledges absent. Clypellar suture complete; arcuate or straight. Clypellus widening apically; relatively flat in lateral view. Gena incised laterally; single fine erect seta close to lateral frontal suture present. Lorum subequal to or wider than clypellus near base, close to lower genal margin. Frontoclypeus shagreen, longer than wide, not tumid in lateral view. Pronotum lateral margins carinate; without transverse striations ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2A–B View FIGURE 2 ). Forewing rounded apically; macropterous; with three anteapical cells, inner anteapical cell open, outer anteapical cell truncate or rounded; with or without reflexed costal veins; brachial cell without extra crossveins; with crossvein between A1 and claval suture; A1-A2 crossvein present; appendix restricted to anal margin ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2A–B View FIGURE 2 ). Profemur with only AM1 present; AM1 near midlength of femur; intercalary row present; row AV with short, stout macrosetae; with two apical setae. Protibia row AD with one macrosetae; row PD with four macrosetae. Metafemur setal formula 2:2:1. Metatarsomere I pecten with three to five platellate setae between AV and PV; PV apical seta acuminate.

Male genitalia: Pygofer articulated with valve; dorsoapical margin not strongly incised or incised to near midlength; macrosetae well differentiated into several rows; with dorsal spines or teeth (except M. cipoensis sp. nov. and M. danunciae ); with caudoventral processes; posterior margin truncate or rounded ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ). Valve subquadrate or subtriangular, articulated with subgenital plate ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ). Subgenital plate subtriangular, outer margin in ventral view concave; macrosetae present, uniseriate; apex bluntly angled ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ). Connective articulated with aedeagus; anterior arms divergent; without processes ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ). Style preapical lobe reduced; apophysis longer or shorter than rest of style, smooth; apex acuminate or truncate; slightly curved outwards ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ). Aedeagus without processes; preatrium reduced; shaft arising from ventral part of socle; gonopore apical ( Figs. 2F–G View FIGURE 2 ). Phragma membranous, without macrosetae. Segment X sclerotized, without process.

Female terminalia: Abdominal sternite VII posterior margin with median incision or concavity.

Notes: The genus resembles Bahita , in having similar color pattern, the head short, not produced anteriorly, the crown-face transition angled, and the forewing with reflexed costal veinlets. However, Megabahita can be distinguished by the short and slender aedeagus, with reduced preatrium and without processes ( Figs. 2F–G View FIGURE 2 ).
