Remarks. Thought to originate from the Indian subcontinent (Edde 2012), it is now a cosmopolitan species ( Borowski 2007; Nardi & Mifsud 2015) and one of the most serious pests in grain storage ( Javanmard et al. 2023). The species is polyphagous on different grains, including starch-based substrates, and on wood packaging ( Hendrival & Aryani 2019). In Romania, it was first recorded in 1975 ( Teodorescu et al. 2006).
