Remarks. Cryptogenic species first recorded in Romania in 1911 ( Petri 1912), 30 years before what was reported in Denux & Zagatti (2010). Adults are scavengers, feeding on a wide range of animal- and plant-based products, including stored products ( Notton 2018). It has been recorded from grain products, insect specimens and bee combs ( Hinton 1941), adults in a robin's nest ( Linsley 1942; Dobroscky 1925), larvae on bird guano ( Hinton & Greenslade 1943), and wooden containers ( Shapiro 1948). This species is rarely abundant enough to cause substantial damage ( Howe & Burges 1951).
