Clivina vigil View in CoL Darlington, 1962: 374; Balkenohl, 2001: 16; Lorenz, 2005: 145; 2024: 5 ZB8K.
Type material. Holotype: ♀, with labels and data: white, black printed “Dobodura Papua, N.G. Remark. In the holotype, the three terminal tarsomeres are missing at the intermediate tibia. In this dried specimen, the reproductive tract was partly everted with missing of the two terminal gonocoxites. In the paratype, the left antennae is shortened to six antennomeres due to an anomaly.
The species is described and keyed out by Darlington (1962).
Compendious description. A medium sized fuscous species with the following measurements: Body length 5.83–6.46 mm (ẍ = 6.16 mm *), width 1.65–1.83 mm (ẍ = 1.77 mm *), ratio L/W of pronotum 0.91–0.98 (ẍ = 0.94*), ratio L/W of elytra 1.82–1.99 (ẍ = 1.94*); (*n = 4).
Head with labrum seven-setose, straight anteriorly. Median part of clypeus separated from clypeal-wing by small obtuse notch, lateral teeth of clypeus indistinctly projecting, clypeal-wing not as far projecting as clypeal-teeth, with convex margin, separated from supraantennal plates by distinct obtuse notch. Eye prominent, gena small but distinct. Clypeo-frontal furrow flat, indistinct; clypeus transverse; neck constriction open, laterally indicated by punctures and reticulation. Frons moderately convex, with pore at middle, with scattered small punctures. Antennae elongate, just reaching over base of pronotum.
Pronotum ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 53–67 ) cordate, wider than long, slightly convex in frontal and moderately convex in lateral view, with lateral margin convex, widest at middle, anterior angle distinct, posterior angle distinct, with distinct tooth projecting anteriorly, lateral margin microscopically crenate (100-fold), disk basally with small group of punctures, with isodiametric reticulation laterally and at base, with posterior setigerous puncture moved away from posterior angle by diameter of pore; lateral margin from posterior angle to flange of base convex, slanted with angle of around 30°, basal channel conspicuously widened, rugose, carina of flange sharp. Proepisternum with isodiametric reticulation, with fine transverse wrinkles, medially with punctures.
Elytron ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27–37 ) elongate, flattened in basal half in lateral view, lateral margin slightly convex, subcrenulated posterior humerus, striae one to four ending free at base, interval three with four setigerous punctures; striae nearly impunctate; intervals slightly to moderately convex, intervals seven and eight distinctly isodiametrically reticulated, with weaker reticulation on interval six (see variation), base and apical third isodiametrically reticulated, interval eight carinate in apical third, seven convex apically, striole distinct, setigerous tubercle at base distinct, with distinct tubercle at base of third interval.
Abdomen with isodiametric reticulation, transverse at middle, two apical setigerous punctures widely separated.
Hind wing fully developed.
Legs. Intermediate tibia with ten tubercles with setae above the spur at the lateral side.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 85–96 ). Median lobe moderately arcuate in basal half, nearly straight in apical half, with indistinct angle to apical spatula; in lateral view with widened spatula. Parameres moderately slender, distorted and hyaline in apical quarter, with short seta each.
Female gonocoxites and epipleurite ( Fig. 121 View FIGURES 110–128 ). Basal gonocoxite fragile, hyaline, with two long and three medium sized setae, apical gonocoxite elongated, straight, cylindrical in cross section, with five setae in basal half, with two long setae at apex. Epipleurite trapezoid, with two long and one small setae.
Variation. In the holotype, there are transverse wrinkles on the frons of the head near the pore. In the paratype, the anterior setigerous punctures of the pronotum at the left side is doubled. Among the four specimens, the group of punctures on the pronotum varies distinctly. The reticulation on intervals six and five is more or less fading to a different degree.
Distribution. The species occurs in Papua / New Guinea.
