Remark. The holotype is a ‘co-type’ of C. integra designated by Andrewes (1929b). Two of the other available ‘co-types’ of C. integra are now representing paratypes of C. neglecta sp. nov. (see also remark under C. integra ).
Description. Measurements. Body length 4.58–5.42 mm (ẍ = 4.96 mm *), width 1.43–1.63 mm (ẍ = 1.53 mm *), ratio L/W of pronotum 0.81–0.87 (ẍ = 0.86*), ratio L/W of elytra 1.77–1.86 (ẍ = 1.81*); (*n = 8). Colour glossy, piceous. Supraantennal plate slightly brightened. Antennae, mouthparts, intermediate and hind legs yellowish.
Head a quarter narrower than pronotum. Clypeus straight to indistinctly excised anteriorly, with its lateral teeth rounded and slightly projecting; wing of moderate size, rounded, less protruding than clypeus, distinctly separated from clypeus by notch; supraantennal plate convex laterally, slightly convex in anterior half; clypeus, wing, and supraantennal plate reflexed margined. Supraantennal plate extended up to mid-eye level, ending at mid-eye level as blunt knob, separated from wing by distinct notch, separated from supraorbital carina by deep moderately wide furrow. Clypeus with transverse blunt elevation, separated from frons by flat but distinct furrow. Frons moderately convex, with indistinct pore at middle, with scattered small punctures. Supraantennal plate separated from clypeus and frons by moderately wide furrow continuing posteriorly up to mid-eye level as moderately wide supraorbital furrow. With blunt distinct supraorbital carina at posterior half of eye. With two supraorbital setigerous punctures situated at mid-eye level and posterior gena-level. Neck constriction developed by distinct step, punctured posteriorly. Eye prominent, projecting laterally, sub-hemispherical. Gena distinct, enclosing eye posteriorly as small stripe. Antenna moderately long, just reaching base of elytron, antennomeres four to ten elongate (L/ W 1.43). Labrum nearly straight, isodiametrically reticulated, seven-setose. Mandible of moderate size. Mentum completely covered with isodiametric reticulation, lateral lobe distinctly convex laterally, angulate anteriorly, straight medially, median tooth wide, angulate, as high as lateral lobes.
Pronotum ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 68–72 ) with disk indistinctly convex in lateral view, in frontal view flattened at middle and moderately convex laterally. Trapezoid, wider than long. Anterior margin indistinctly excised. Reflexed lateral margin smooth, convex and slightly widening posteriorly, widest at posterior third; anterior angle rounded-off; posterior angle distinctly marked by moderately sharp tooth. Lateral channel relatively narrow, reticulated, margin from posterior angle to base slanted by angle of about 40°, indistinctly convex, flange short but distinct, basal channel and carina of flange of regular size. Median line distinct, crenulated, joining and surpassing anterior transverse line, joining base; anterior transverse line narrow, complete. Surface with microscopic punctures, basal declivity isodiametrically reticulated.
Elytron ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 27–37 ) with disk indistinctly convex to flatten in anterior half in lateral view, regularly convex in frontal view. Outline regularly long oval, distinctly less than twice as long as wide, with maximum width behind middle. Humerus distinct, rounded, formed by lateral margin which joins stria five laterally by a short carina. Reflexed lateral margin subcrenulated posterior humerus. Lateral channel moderately wide. Scutellar striole of moderate length, not deep; with distinct setigerous puncture at base of first stria, with small but distinct tubercle at base of third interval. Striae moderately deep, indistinctly punctate, one to four free at base, five and six joining at humerus, striae one and two running up to apex, three and four, and five and six joining apically. Intervals convex, seven and eight carinate apically. Third interval with four setigerous punctures adjoining third stria. Surface of intervals smooth and glossy on disk, with distinct isodiametric reticulation at basal declivity, at apical fifth, and on interval seven and eight.
Hind wing fully developed.
Lower surface. Proepisternum with distinct isodiametric reticulation, with transverse wrinkles laterally. Sternites of abdomen with isodiametric reticulation laterally, shingle-like and transverse at middle. Abdominal sternum VII with the two anal setigerous punctures widely separated, at middle slightly projecting posteriorly where it is flattened, with narrow marginal furrow at middle (in both sexes).
Legs. Protibia with three spines of moderate length and a small knob basally, widely sulcate dorsally, movable spur slightly arcuate, surface with longitudinal reticulation. Mesotibia with distinct and moderately long protuberance preapically with acuminate apex and with its seta inserted laterally, with seven setae furnished tubercles above protuberance, with few fine setae at the inner side. Front leg with tarsomeres of about same width as other tarsomeres, first tarsomere elongated, with carina baso-laterally, laterally with acute tubercle furnished with two short setae.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 103 View FIGURES 97–104 ). Median lobe regularly arcuate in basal half, in apical half nearly straight for a short distance, with apical lamella straight to apex, base with basal oroficium in lateral view at axis of median lobe. In lateral view spoon-like widened. Parameres slender, spatulate, and hyaline in apical third, asetose (at 500-fold).
Female gonocoxites and epipleurite ( Fig. 128 View FIGURES 110–128 ). Gonocoxites scapiform, extraordinary slender, less sclerotized, not fused, completely movable; basal gonocoxite 1 elongated, with four setae, apical gonocoxite 2 slender, distinctly elongated, straight, narrowed in basal half, cylindrical in apical half, with two long setae at apex, with one long setae at lateral margin in apical third, with one minute seta. Epipleurite formed by hyaline velum, furnished with two setae close together basally.
Variation. On the frons of the head, the central impression varies in size and depth, and the small punctuation varies from nearly smooth to slightly punctured. On the elytron, the punctuation of the striae is more or less distinct.
Distribution. Known from the island of Sumatra, and from the southern part of the Malay Peninsula.
Diagnosis. A small sized piceous species with interval eight of the elytron reticulated. It differs mainly from the most similar species C. integra Andrewes and C. neglecta sp. nov. by its trapezoid shape of the pronotum, the distinct neck constriction, and the median lobe of the male aedeagus in dorsal view with apical lamella straight to apex and in lateral view spoon-like widened.
Etymology. The name refers to the close similarity of the species to that of C. integra Andrewes and C. neglecta sp. nov.
