Diagnosis: Recognised by the combination of yellow knees, a vein stump at radius r 2+3 ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ) and the strongly dusted face and frons. Confusion is possible with species of Parydra s. str. that have a vein stump on r 2+3. However, these species never have such strongly dusted frons and are further separated by the characters of the subgenus.
Distribution in Europe: The records published here represent the first for Europe. Previously it was known only from the locus typicus in Iran. It is widely distributed and not rare, at least locally, from Kyrgyzstan to Cyprus ( Fig. 109 View FIGURES 109–112 ).
Biology: Parydra articulata has been recorded from March to July in densely vegetated wetlands including the edges of lakes and rivers. It has also been found in saline habitats.
