Distribution — East tropical Africa, Mascarene Islands, continental tropical Asia, throughout Malesia (Van Ooststroom & Hoogland 1953).
Habitat & Ecology — In grasslands, waste places, fields, thickets, occasionally in teak-forest, also on sandy soil near the sea; from sea level to 1 000 m (Van Ooststroom & Hoogland 1953).
