Distribution — Mexico, Central America, West Indies, tropical

South America, elsewhere cultivated and perhaps occasionally escaped, in Malesia only known from the Peninsular Malaysia (as a garden escape), and Timor, where it is locally frequent in the North Central portion of the island, at 400 m (Van Ooststroom & Hoogland 1953).

Habitat & Ecology — Small plant, found in roadsides and said to be very frequent in some localities of Timor.

Vernacular name — Non luli (Timor: unknown dialect).
