Dawah ( NMWC). GHANA: 1♂, Tafo Cocoa Plantation , 10.xi.1988, M. Cobblah ( NMWC). KENYA: 1♂, Nairobi, Kasarani , 10–11.viii.1989, J.W. Ismay ( NMWC); NIGERIA: 1♂, Lagos, Agege , 19.i.1974, M.A. Cornes ( NMWC); 1♂, Ibadan , 16–18.ii.1966, J.C. Deeming ( NMWC).

Distribution. This is the first record from Saudi Arabia; it is new to the fauna of Ghana and Nigeria. This species was described from Indonesia (Krakatau Island) and was further recorded from the Oriental Region; Indonesia (Flores Islands, Lombok Island and Sumbawa Island), Taiwan (as Formosa): Palaearctic Region; Turkey, Ukraine: Afrotropical Region; Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique “ Rhodesia ” (= Zimbabwe and Zambia), South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire ( Cogan 1980; Sasakawa 1972; Çikmani & Sasakawa, 2011; Guglya 2012; Černý & von Tschirnhaus 2014).

Host remarks. The host plant for M. provecta is Abutilon indicum (L.) ( Malvaceae ) ( Spencer 1977b: 234).
