Geographic range: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia.

Habitat: Freshwater.

Notes: This is the commonest mussel species in its native range ( Appleton & Curtis 2007), occurring in fine sediments across rivers and lakes ( Kristensen et al. 2010 b).

Type locality: In Kunene River , Angola ( Mousson 1888) .
