Basionym:— Kitchingia parviflora Baker (1883: 141) .

Type:— MADAGASCAR. Central Madagascar , [Richard] Baron 1191, (holotype Herb. K), not available for examination online, recorded by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54) as “Type”, here corrected to holotype ; (isotype Herb. P barcode P00374127 !, available for examination online at http://coldb.mnhn.fr/catalognumber/mnhn/p/p00374127) .

Nomenclatural notes:— Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54) recorded the “ Type ” of the name Kitchingia parviflora , basionym of Kalanchoe parviflora , as “Baron 1191”. In the protologue of the name Kitchingia parviflora, Baker (1883: 141) indeed mentioned a single gathering, “ Baron 1191!”, from “Central Madagascar ”. This specimen is not available for examination online.

Herb. P holds a [Richard] Baron 1191 specimen with barcode P 00374127 that is labelled “Fragment du Type ”. It was purchased from Herb. K in June 1889, which is the date provided by Boiteau & Allorge-Boiteau (1995: 54), and it should not be construed as the collecting date. The material was received at Herb. P on 25 July 1890. The specimen, although labelled a “fragment”, is quite complete—it includes vegetative and reproductive—material.

Taxonomic notes:— Kitchingia parviflora and Kalanchoe parviflora are included in the synonymy of Kalanchoe campanulata ( Baker 1881: 269) Baillon (1885: 469) .

Kalanchoe campanulata is included in Kalanchoe subg. Pubescentes .
