Material examined. Faro: Galls on leaves, Aljezur, 37°17'04.2"N 8°48'20.2"W, 2.v.2021, Rhamnus alaternus (leg. B. Duarte) ( BDC, 70% ethanol); 8 immatures, 2 skins, several galls on leaves, Fonte de Benémola, Querença, 37°12'21.2"N 8°00'11.5"W, 6.ix.2024, R. alaternus (leg. D. Burckhardt, B. Duarte & D.L. Queiroz) ( BDC, NHMB, dry mounted and 70% ethanol); 5 immatures, 3 skins, several galls in leaves, between Casais and Cercada, 37°17'18.2"N 8°35'57.5"W, 9.ix.2024, garden, hedges, vegetation along unsurfaced road, Quercus suber plantation, R. lycioides (leg. D. Burckhardt, B. Duarte & D.L. Queiroz) BDC, ( NHMB, dry mounted and 70% ethanol).
Distribution Portugal. Mainland: Aveiro, Castelo Branco, Coimbra (iNaturalist, Appendix 1); Faro (this study; iNaturalist, Appendix 1); Leiria ( Tavares 1905a, as Asterolecanium rhamni ; iNaturalist, Appendix 1); Lisbon ( Tavares 1905a; iNaturalist, Appendix 1); Portalegre, Santarém (iNaturalist, Appendix 1); Setúbal ( Tavares 1905a; iNaturalist, Appendix 1).
Host plants Portugal. Rhamnaceae : Rhamnus alaternus L. ( Tavares 1905a; this study; iNaturalist, Appendix 1); R. lycioides L. (this study).
Parasitoids. Confirmed in the laboratory, but emerged hymenopteran parasitoids are still in need of identification.
