Diagnosis: Zodarion jozefienae can be distinguished from other members within the styliferum group by the tibial apophysis, with a long terminal hook ( Fig. 35K View FIGURE 35 ), the elongated, tapering tip of the median apophysis ( Fig. 35K View FIGURE 35 ), and a small, bell-shaped epigynal plate with a single copulatory opening and paired, converging wings ( Figs 40M View FIGURE 40 , 41F View FIGURE 41 ).
Description: For a detailed description of the habitus and male palp, see Bosmans (1994). Epigyne ( Fig. 41F View FIGURE 41 ): Epigynal plate bell-shaped, anteriorly rounded with diverging edges. Epigyne with an anterior copulatory opening. Pit(s) are not visible, but they might potentially be located near the wings.
Molecular data:
COI mitochondrial barcodes (Genbank accession): KX954296 View Materials , PP373370 .
Maximum intraspecific COI divergence (n=2): 8.4 %. Minimum interspecific divergence (to Z. gregua ): 2.6%. Consensus COI distance to the closest species (to Z. styliferum ): 2.6%.
Comment: A noticeable diversity in the color pattern of the prosoma within Z. jozefienae has been reported before ( Bosmans 1994; Pekár et al. 2003), and here we document two main patterns ( Fig. 28A–B View FIGURE 28 ). These differences are not accompanied by noticeable divergence in the copulatory organs.
Distribution: Portugal, Spain.
