Type species: Embia antiqua ( Pictet, 1854) View in CoL , by monotypy.
Diagnosis. We follow the diagnoses given by Ross (1956, 1966), with two corrections: hind probasitarsus elongated or robust (not only elongate – Ross 1956) and fore- and hind wings absent or completely developed (see below description of E. olmii sp. n.).
