is the type species of the genus ( Richter et al., 2015) and it belongs to the G. lucidum complex ( Zhou et al., 2015). It often colonises old deciduous trees in parks and botanical gardens, but it occurs mainly in forests ( Sokół, 2000; Bernicchia, 2005). Basidiocarps of G. lucidum grow mostly on oaks, but also on other trees ( Kotlaba, 1984; Tortić, 1985; Sokół, 2000; Karadelev et al., 2008; Papp, Szabó, 2013; Ryvarden, Melo, 2014). In Europe, it grows on 24 woody plants genera ( Bernicchia, 2005; Ryvarden, Melo, 2014).
