Myrciaria tenella (De Candolle, 1828: 272) O.Berg (1856: 328) .

Myrciaria tenella must be excluded from the Catalogue of Vascular plants of Bolivia, since all specimens identified under this name correspond to M. cuspidata .

Although the species have morphological similarities, M. cuspidata is easily distinguished from M. tenella by having smooth branches with rhytidome detachment (vs. stems smooth but without rhytidome detachment), leaves with distichous phyllotaxis (vs. with decussate phyllotaxis) and leaf blades with cuspidate and mucronate apex (vs. acute or obtuse apex, not mucronate).
