Hemigryllus woronovi Gorochov, 1986 View in CoL

( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 )

Comments. This species was originally described from localities surrounding the Magdalena River, including Barranca-Bermeja [Barrancabermeja], Presidio, and Mosquitero (now known as Puerto Mosquito), currently in the departments of Santander, Cesar, and Magdalena ( Gorochov, 1986a).

Later, Gorochov (1996) recorded the species in several Bolivian localities, such as Villa Montes and Sara Province ( Map 1 View MAP 1 ), noting that the Bolivian specimens appeared slightly larger and lighter. The regions where these specimens were recorded are separated by the imposing Andes mountains and the Amazon. This suggests that the Bolivian specimens recorded by Gorochov, and others Bolivian and Argentine records by Giglio-Tos (1894, 1897), Bruner (1916), and Hebard (1931) as H. kriechbaumeri or H. ortonii ( Map 2 View MAP 2 ), may belong to a species closely related. The same way as H. woronovi and H. gorochovi sp. nov. Both species are related, H. woronovi is distributed in the Magdalena Valley, while H. gorochovi sp. nov. is found in the Orinoquia region in Colombia, separated by the eastern slope of the Colombian Andes ( Map 1 View MAP 1 ).

Here, a female specimen attributable to H. woronovi is recorded further south within its known range ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ), in another population near the Magdalena River, a favored habitat for this species ( Map 1 View MAP 1 ).
