Kerivoula lenis Thomas 1916 View in CoL
Lenis Woolly Bat (Local name not available)
Specimens examined (2).—Krau: TTU 108210 (GenBank EU188772 View Materials ); Kubah NP: TTU 108326.
Type locality.— India, Calcutta .
Malaysian distribution.—The current study provides the first confirmed record of this species in both Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo. The distribution of K. lenis partially overlaps that of K. papillosa , a larger species of Kerivoula .
Remarks.— Kerivoula lenis was caught using harp traps in habitat similar to where K. papillosa and K. intermedia were captured. This species was recently recognized as a valid species from the K. papillosa complex through morphological evaluations ( Vanitharani et al. 2003; Fig. 3e). Kerivoula lenis has a genetic distance of 3.92% in the cyt- b gene sequence data between individuals from Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo. See K. papillosa account for details.
