Hipposideros ridleyi Robinson and Kloss 1911 View in CoL

Ridley’s Leaf-nosed Bat (Kelawar Ladam Bulat Singapura)

Specimens examined (3).—Kubah NP: TK 152188 (GenBank EU521623 View Materials ), TK 152189, TK 152191.

Type locality.— Singapore, Botanic Gardens .

Malaysian distribution.—Recorded from Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo

Remarks.— Bicolor species group (Corbet and Hill 1992). Hipposideros ridleyi was caught inside a drainage tunnel in Kubah NP using hand nets. This species has a large noseleaf that covers the muzzle without lateral leaflets, and has a disc shaped structure on the nostril ( Payne et al. 1985). Comparison with a GenBank sequence ( DQ054811 View Materials ) indicated a low cyt- b genetic distance (<2%) between Bornean and Peninsular Malaysian populations.
