North American Beaver

Castor canadensis are characteristic of the northern, central, and southeastern parishes of Louisiana. Since Lowery (1974), new specimen records were reported from Cameron, Lafayette, and St. Mary parishes. Additionally, there were nonvouchered records reported from Acadia, Beauregard, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Catahoula, Concordia, Iberville, Morehouse, Orleans, Rapides, Sabine, St. Martin, St. Charles, Union, and Vernon parishes.
