Lasiurus cinereus Palisot View in CoL de Beauvois, 1796

Northern Hoary Bat

There has been much recent discussion regarding the taxonomy of L. cinereus , with some mammalogists assigning it to the genus Aeorestes ( Baird et al. 2015) . However, until the issue is resolved, the genus Lasiurus is retained here. Lasiurus cinereus are known from most parts of Louisiana, albeit few records exist. This species has not been reported from extreme southwestern or southeastern Louisiana. Since Lowery (1974), one specimen record was recorded from Evangeline Parish.
