Puma concolor was known from only a few locations in Caddo Parish in northwestern Louisiana and Concordia and Morehouse parishes in eastern Louisiana (Lowery 1974). Confirmed sightings were summarized in a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in 2016 from Allen, Bossier, Iberia, Vernon, and Winn parishes ( Iles 2016). Additional records were confirmed from Morehouse and Clairborne parishes (John Hanks, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, personal communication).
