Type: Epilithia adriatica Ercegović (a monotypic genus at the time of publication).
Notes: Saxicolea is a colonial blue-green alga inhabiting supratidal zones of the Dalmatic coast, on calcareous substrata. A full description, provided by Prof. Jiři Komárek in 2011, is available at AlgaeBase ( Guiry & Guiry, 2021). The name was coined by freely translating the original name as “rock inhabitant”.
