Type species:— Septocystis minor F.C. Huang
Etymology:—“ Septocystis ” refers to the genus having the special cystidia with septa at tip.
Description:—Basidiomata annual, resupinate, corky to hard leathery. Pore surface white to dark gray; pores circular, angular, irregular; most dissepiments thick, entire to lacerate. Hyphal system dimitic; generative hyphae bearing clamp connections, skeletal hyphae dominant, frequently branched, usually well differentiated from the main part in trama, IKI−, CB +, tissues darkening in KOH. Dendrohyphidia absent; hyphal pegs occasionally present in the hymenium; Crystals frequent or few among subhymenium and hymenium. Cystidia fusoid, long clavate to flask shaped, usually with 1–3 septa at tip, but some turn to be a thin membrane, some to be a short to long irregular linear object; cystidioles fusoid, long clavate to flask shape; basidia barrel-shaped to cylindrical, with four sterigmata and a basal clamp connection; basidiospores cylindrical, IKI−, CB +.
