Specimens of A. phanothrix and its putative synonyms ( A. saganlugensis and A. cancellatus ) were examined primarily from herbarium collections. The type specimen of A. phanothrix was borrowed from the JE herbarium and studied in detail. DNA from leaf material from this specimen was extracted for molecular analyses. Additional digital images of type specimens of A. saganlugensis and A. cancellatus were obtained from the herbaria in B, G, and P for comparative morphological studies ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). The acronyms of the herbaria follow Thiers (2024).
