A native brackish-water species, found in the Danube mouth area at Sulina, as well as in the Sinoe area in the Razim lagoon complex ( Bănărescu 1964; Vasil’eva 2007; Kottelat & Freyhof 2007; Cocan & MireȘan 2018; Buhaciuc-Ioniţă, unpublished [2021 record from Periboina, Sinoe area, Oțel id.]).
