Family Scolopocryptopidae View in CoL

Scolopocryptops sexspinosus (Say) View in CoL . This Nearctic species was first reported from Canada (unspecified localities) by Brodie and White (1883). In Ontario, it is known only from the Niagara region ( Shelley 2002). Kevan (1983) reported it from British Columbia; however, Shelley (2002) asserts that records of this species from British Columbia are Scolopocryptops spinicaudus Wood View in CoL , a native western species also found in Washington, Oregon, California, and Colorado.

Scolopocryptops spinicaudus Wood. Records View in CoL of this native species from British Columbia were misidentified as S. sexspinosus View in CoL until corrected by Shelley (2002). The species is distributed along the coast of British Columbia, including Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and on other islands ( Shelley 2002).
