Holotype. Female , Nepal, Kangchenjunga , Deorali Danda, Anpan, 1900 m, 6–7.viii.2000, leg. M. Hreblay & T. Csővári, slide No.: GYP3991 ( PG).
Note. The female terminal abdominal segments are unknown (not preserved with the genitalia).
Diagnosis. The single known female of C. (N.) punctifera ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 31–40 ) is characterised by the more warm brownish forewing; the darker, warm brownish antemedial field; the reduced, almost absent basal streak; the indistinct antemedial line, slightly contrast at the inner margin of the forewing with two tiny, blackish spots on veins Cu2 and A1+2; the more or less uniformly wide, moderately narrow inner part of the medial field; the narrow, blackish, zigzag and wavy medial line; the brownish medial fascia; the densely crenulate postmedial line with short teeth; the larger first spot out of the four whitish spots at the costa between the medial fascia and the terminal line; the greyish-black, narrow, hastate terminal field; the slightly lighter orbicular stigma with a tiny, double, black dots outwardly; and the indistinct reniform stigma filled with a warm brownish and outlined with series of blackish spots.
The female genitalia ( Fig. 105 View FIGURES 96–106 ) can be distinguished by the slightly less sclerotized ductus bursae; the more drop-shaped junction of the appendix bursae with the corpus bursae; and the more angled sclerotized distal turn of the appendix bursae with a long, rather zigzag, evenly wide terminal twist.
Description. Imago ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 31–40 ). Wingspan 32 mm. Head. Relatively large; 2 nd segment of palpus longer than 3 rd; antennae filiform. Thorax. Moderately wide, greyish-white; patagia concolorous with thorax; tegulae concolorous with thorax, with thin blackish outline. Abdomen. Whitish-grey with some darker middorsal scale tufts. Wing. Forewing wide, apically obtuse, dark brownish-grey; basal spot blackish, large, more or less semi-circular; basal streak blackish, short, reduced, more or less wedge-shaped; tornal streak blackish, long, reduced between medial and postmedial lines, wide between postmedial and terminal lines; apical dash tiny, blackish, indistinct, spot-like; basal line blackish, double, outer line conspicuously wider than inner line, filled with dark greyish-ochre; antemedial line reduced, with three blackish larger spots at costal area, two blackish tiny spots on veins Cu2 and A1+2, and indistinct, whitish spot at inner margin with short, blackish line and tiny blackish spot outwardly; medial line blackish, thin, zigzag; medial fascia relatively wide, blackish-brown, fading outwardly; postmedial line double, heavily crenulate, inner line reduced, greyish-black, outer line blackish, more prominent, with narrow black stripe between veins R3 and M2, filled with whitish; subterminal line whitish-grey, narrow, zigzag; terminal line whitish, interrupted by black on veins; basal field dark greyish-ochre, narrow, joined to subbasal patch; subbasal patch moderately narrow and long, lighter brownish-white with ochreous shading; suprabasal patch undefined; antemedial field wide with conspicuous blackish patch between costa and basal streak and brownish colouring at inner margin; medial field inwardly off-white with ochreous shading at costal area, outwardly greyish-brown, both inner and outer parts narrow; subterminal field brownish-grey with large, blackish-grey squarish patches in costal area, obscure between veins M1 and M2 and around tornal streak; terminal field greyish-black, narrow, with hastate spots; orbicular stigma reduced, lighter off-white with tiny double black dots inwardly; reniform stigma indistinct, inwardly dark brown, outlined with series of tiny blackish spots; four quadrangular whitish spots at costa between medial fascia and terminal line, gradually decreasing in size towards apex; tornal patch small, blackish; fringe whitish with greyish patches. Hindwing rounded, apically slightly pointed, greyish-brown; marginal band slightly darker greyish-brown; postdiscal line, discal spot and tornal patch darker greyish-brown, faint; fringe whitish with greyish patches.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 105 View FIGURES 96–106 ). Ovipositor rounded, slightly longer than wide, tapering posteriorly. Papillae anales weakly sclerotized, oval, densely hairy. Anterior and posterior apophysis weakly sclerotized, rod-like; anterior apophysis shorter than posterior apophysis with slightly extended distal end. Ostium longitudinally ribbed, moderately sclerotized. Antrum short, moderately sclerotized, more or less funnel-shaped. Ductus bursae short, moderately sclerotized, ribbed. Corpus bursae large, bulbous, weakly sclerotized with two opposing distal signa. Appendix bursae long, coiled, moderately sclerotized, ribbed except in distal third; terminal twist uniformly wide, zigzag; junction with corpus bursae long and narrow.
Distribution. Himalayan. The species is known only from its type locality and probably occurs sympatrically with C. (N.) lobophorus and C. (N.) senjelungma .
Etymology. The name “ punctifera ” refers to the reduced outlines of both orbicular and reniform stigmata substituted by blackish spots.
