Holotype. Male , Nepal, Prov. Nr. 3 East [Prov. Nr. 1.], Jubing, 1600 m, 3.v.1964, leg. W. Dierl, slide No.: KA 1222m ( ZSM).
Diagnosis. The single male C. (N.) jubingica ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 41–50 ) is externally similar to C. (N.) delattini ( Figs 29, 30 View FIGURES 21–30 ), C. (N.) warreni ( Figs 31, 32 View FIGURES 31–40 ), C. (N.) albothoracica ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 41–50 ), and the male of C. (N.) fuscothoracica ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 41–50 ). It can be separated from them, however, by the V-shaped, relatively large black anterior spot of the thorax; the more contrasting, light ochreous forewing with pinkish shading on the basal region of the antemedial field; the tiny, blackish, hastate spot of the antemedial line on vein A1+2; the bluish-tinged grey terminal field with triangular patches between veins. C. (N.) jubingica can also be distinguished from C. (N.) warreni , the male of C. (N.) fuscothoracica and C. (N.) albothoracica by the slightly more pronounced reniform stigma; and from C. (N.) delattini also by the more blackish tegulae.
The male genitalia ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 73–83 ) can be separated from those of C. (N.) boursini ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 73–83 ) and C. (N.) albothoracica ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 73–83 ) by the proportionally longer, straighter uncus; the somewhat more angled, apically somewhat expanded valvae with a straighter ventral margin; the moderately long and sclerotized medial sclerite with a pronounced sclerotized basal protrusion; and the more angled ventral margin of the sacculus.
In the male terminal abdominal segments ( Fig. 125 View FIGURES 122–129 ), compared to those of C. (N.) albothoracica ( Fig. 126 View FIGURES 122–129 ), the 8 th sternite has a more or less trapezoidal shape with more or less uniformly narrow lateral sides and an elongate sclerotized distal patch; and a narrow, oval, distally somewhat constricted window with a narrow, constricted, lens-shaped sclerotized stripe proximally. The 8 th tergite has a narrow, more or less triangular shape with a narrow proximal edge; uniformly narrowing lateral sides; and a somewhat stouter, more or less spade-shaped, proximally slightly pointed window.
Description. Imago ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 41–50 ). Wingspan 30 mm. Head. Relatively large; 2 nd segment of palpus longer than 3 rd; antennae filiform. Thorax. Moderately wide, greyish with more or less V-shaped, relatively large black anterior spot; patagia greyish with blackish outline; tegulae blackish with greyish scales. Abdomen. Whitish-grey with some darker middorsal scale tufts. Wing. Forewing moderately narrow, apically obtuse, light ochreous; basal spot blackish, relatively large, more or less semi-circular; basal streak indistinct, blackish, wide, moderately long; tornal streak blackish, long, thin between medial and postmedial lines, wide and somewhat triangular between postmedial and terminal lines; apical dash absent; basal line blackish, double, outer line thin, more prominent than inner line, inner line very short, dot-like, filled with ochreous; antemedial line double, reduced, thin, with three blackish, larger spots at costal area, inwardly with tiny, blackish, hastate spot on vein A1+2, and outwardly with tiny, bluish-tinged whitish spot at inner margin; medial line blackish, thin, zigzag; medial fascia wide, blackish, outwardly slightly fading; postmedial line double, crenulate, inner line greyish-black, thin, reduced, outer line blackish, more prominent with narrow black stripe between veins R3 and M2, filled with whitish and some ochreous scaling at tornal streak; subterminal line narrow, zigzag, indistinct, whitish-grey; terminal line whitish, interrupted by tiny, black on veins; basal field ochreous, relatively wide, fused with interior of basal line and joined to subbasal patch with whitish line; subbasal patch whitish-ochre, wide and short; suprabasal patch indistinct, darker ochreous, more or less stripe-like; antemedial field dark ochreous with conspicuous blackish patch at costa and pinkish shading at inner margin; medial field inwardly whitish-ochre suffused with darker ochreous in costal area, outwardly ochreous suffused with greyish, inner part wide, outer part very narrow; subterminal field ochreous with large, blackish-grey squarish patches in costal area, obscure between veins M1 and M2 and around tornal streak; terminal field bluish-tinged grey, narrow, broken into triangular patches between veins; orbicular stigma reduced with tiny blackish curved line inwardly; reniform stigma moderately large, reduced, ochreous, inwardly suffused with blackish scales, outlined with continuous line inwardly, and series of tiny blackish spots outwardly; four narrow, whitish spots at costa between medial fascia and terminal line, first shorter than second, then gradually decreasing in length towards apex; tornal patch blackish, small; fringe whitish with greyish patches. Hindwing rounded, apically slightly pointed, greyish-brown; marginal band and discal spot slightly darker greyish-brown; postdiscal line obscure; tornal patch absent; fringe whitish with greyish patches.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 73–83 ). Uncus moderately short, sclerotized, straight, more or less uniformly wide, apically slightly narrowing, hairy; apex hooked. Scaphium moderately sclerotized, pliers-like; subscaphium weakly sclerotized. Tegumen long with lobe-like peniculus covered with dense long hairs. Saccus sclerotized, V-shaped. Juxta simple, moderately sclerotized, widest at base, shield-shaped. Manica double, moderately sclerotized lobe-like extension with spinulose structure supporting numerous small spinules. Transtilla short, rod-like, uniformly wide, sclerotized. Valvae elongate, narrow, basally and apically angled, more or less uniformly wide, moderately sclerotized; sacculus narrow, ventrally angled, sclerotized; clavus slightly curved; valval androconial apparatus absent; medial sclerite moderately long, slightly curved and sclerotized with tiny, sclerotized basal protrusion; apex rounded with wide, dense corona. Phallus simple, tubular, moderately sclerotized; carina slightly more sclerotized, wide, short, wedge-shaped formation. Vesica as long as phallus, moderately wide, essentially tubular with three basal diverticula one of them bearing spinulose patch, distal diverticulum larger, elongate; tooth-like cornuti absent from mid-lateral surface.
Male 7 th and 8 th abdominal segments ( Fig. 125 View FIGURES 122–129 ). 7 th sternite roughly trapezoidal, wider than long, evenly sclerotized with slightly more sclerotized, narrow semi-circular distal band; proximal edges slightly wavy, laterally extended; lateral sides proximally concave, distally convex, with less contrasting margins; distal edge slightly concave. 7 th tergite roughly trapezoidal, wider than long; proximal half slightly sclerotized, distal half slightly more sclerotized semi-circular band with indistinct window in middle; proximal edge more or less straight with two long, curved, sclerotized rods; lateral sides more or less convex with less contrasting margins; distal edge slightly concave. 8 th sternite trapezoidal with rounded corner, as long as wide; window relatively large, oval with rounded proximal margin and concave indentation in distal edge, with narrow, laterally pointed, slightly constricted sclerotized stripe; proximal edge slightly arched with more sclerotized patch in middle; lateral sides distally widening, strongly widened and fused distally, with elongate sclerotized patch; distal edge concave. 8 th tergite triangular, 2× as long as wide; window moderately narrow, spade-shaped, with more or less contrast margin; proximal edge short, obtuse; lateral sides uniformly narrowing toward distal edge, narrowest in middle with wide, elongate spur-like distal end; distal edge more or less straight. Anterolateral sclerites of 8 th segment relatively long, sclerotized, slightly curved rods with short, membranous spur-like extension close to junction with 8 th sternite.
Distribution. Himalayan. This species is known only from its type locality, Jubing, in the southern massif of Mount Everest on 1600 m elevation, where it probably occurs sympatrically with C. (N.) boursini .
Etymology. The name “ jubingica ” refers to its type locality.
