Nedanta isoscelia Navás, 1932 View in CoL (synonym of Perla (Perla) longicauda Pictet, 1841 View in CoL ) in Zwick, 1972: 1160.

Pictet (1841) described A. longicauda View in CoL based on a single female specimen from Brazil, with no specific location given. Based on material from Ecuador, Enderlein (1909) illustrated the female subgenital plate and described additional specimens. Zwick (1972) designated Nedanta isoscelia Navás, 1932 as a junior synonym of A. longicauda and illustrated the female subgenital plate of the holotype, reinstating this species after Illies (1966) set it as a nomen dubium. The subgenital plate of the holotype, however, is remarkably different from the drawings of Enderlein and they are likely nonspecific.

Upon examination of the holotype, it is uniformly ochraceous in color, without a single distinguishing feature. The female subgenital plate has four similarly sized lobes, as that of most other Anacroneuria species ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 , D–F). The holotype does not bear sufficient characters for a clear species identity, and no other specimens have been collected and stand identified as A. longicauda besides the type of the species and the type of its synonym N. isoscelia , which is also in poor shape as was stated by Navás. Therefore, in accordance with the recommendations of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature ( ICZN, 2025), we consider this species as a nomen dubium, as previously stated by Illies (1966), a name of unknown or doubtful application (e.g., the description does not conform to Article 13.1.1) ( ICZN, 2025). The name Anacroneuria longicauda is not considered valid and may not be used in the future.
