This widespread species ranges from southern Canada to Mexico, and from coast to coast. Razowski & Becker (2014b) listed records for C. latiferreana from Tegucigalpa in September. Quercus species ( Fagaceae ), the primary larval hosts of C. latiferreana , are common in the vicinity of Tegucigalpa. Larvae of C. latiferreana feed inside acorns and fruits of various trees (see Gilligan & Epstein 2012 for a list of species).
