Taxonomy of the Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) parvulus group
Diagnosis. Elytron with regular punctures of 11 rows and pronotum distinctly punctured. Upper side seems glabrous or metallic, but with distinct punctures, sometimes stronger and closer, or sometimes finer ( Figs. 1 View FIGURE 1 and 2 View FIGURE 2 , punctures on the pronotum of this species group). These characteristics and character combination can distinguish the species group from the others.
According to our studies after checking the specimens maintained at IZ-CAS, and for some, based on the literature, we included in this species group the following 10 species listed below (of them, seven ones known before this study, one new country record to China, and two new species described here):
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) guttifer Suffrian, 1854
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) limbatipennis Jacoby, 1885
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) melanoxanthus chotanensis Jacobson, 1896
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) mitchyi Chûjô, 1954
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) ngae Gressit, 1942
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) parvulus O. F. Müller, 1776
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) tetradecaspilotus Baly, 1873
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) inhumeralis Pic, 1922 ( New country record to China)
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) longwangshanus Duan, Wang & Zhou , sp. nov.
Cryptocephalus ( s. str.) yangae Duan, Wang & Zhou , sp. nov.
