GENUS PLATYMAIA MIERS, 1886 View in CoL

Remarks: Poore (2004) noted that the genus Platymaia comprises at least seven Indo-West Pacific species. Of these, Poore (2004) reported the occurrence of three species in southern Australia but notes also that ‘identity of southern Australian species remains in doubt’. Clark & O’Shea (2001) reported the presence of this genus (as Platymaia sp. ) at vent sites of the Kermadec Ridge off New Zealand.
