Clathrus spinosus ( Bonelli, 1826) — Iljina 1993: 119 (pars), pl. 15, fig. 1 [non Hirtoscala spinosa ( Sacco, 1891) ].
Discussion. Iljina (1993) illustrated a small, slender specimen of five moderately convex whorls and moderately incised suture with about eight very broad lamellae with smooth crests, separated by much narrower interspaces. Varices are not aligned but cover the adapical suture. There is no comparable species in the Miocene of the Central Paratethys. The species is reminiscent of the Cirsotrema crassicostatoides ( Sacco, 1891) , from the Burdigalian or Langhian of the Colli Torinesi ( Italy) but lacks spiral cords on the lamellae (see Sacco 1891: pl. 2, fig. 26).
Distribution in Eastern Paratethys. Konkian (Middle Miocene): Kiyandy ravine (spelled as ravine Gilyandy in Iljina 1993) ( Kazakhstan).
