Barolineocerus ornatus Freytag, 2008 View in CoL
(Figs. 1T–W, 4G–I, 16A–M)
Barolineocerus ornatus Freytag, 2008: 58 View in CoL , figures 29–31.
Type locality: Saül, French Guiana.
Diagnosis (based on material collected in Brazil). Pronotal macula almost extends to hind margin of pronotum (Fig. 1T, 4G). Claval macula extends distinctly beyond scutellum apex (Fig. 1T, 4G). Abdominal sternite II apodeme almost extending to posterior margin of sternite III ( Fig. 16B View FIGURE 16 ). Pygofer posterior margin with ventral process; with long median process, mostly straight, apex multifurcate ( Figs. 16C–E View FIGURE 16 ). Valve with anterior and posterior margins straight ( Fig. 16F View FIGURE 16 ). Subgenital plate without dorsal process; apex rounded ( Figs. 16G–H View FIGURE 16 ). Aedeagus with dorsal median process; without dorsal subapical ridge; with ventral transverse ridge at apical fourth ( Figs. 16L–M View FIGURE 16 ). Anal tube, laterobasal process with base sinuous at anterior margin, apex distinctly pointed ( Figs. 16C, E View FIGURE 16 ).
Measurements (mm). Males (n= 5), total length (to apex of forewing): 3.80–4.15; median length of crown: 0.26–0.31; length of crown close to eyes: 0.24–0.27; width of head: 1.54–1.56; width of crown between eyes: 0.86–0.88; length of pronotum: 0.39–0.50; length of scutellum: 0.75–0.84; width of pronotum: 1.33–1.39; width of scutellum: 0.97–1.03; length of face: 0.89–0.95; width of face between eyes: 0.84–0.91; distance between ocelli: 0.36–0.38; ocellocular distance: 0.21–0.23; length of clypeus: 0.33–0.35; basal width of clypeus: 0.22; apical width of clypeus: 0.36–0.38; length of forewing: 3.04–3.54.

Holotype condition. Body covered with sparse Lepidopteran scales.
Remarks. Freytag (2008) provided illustrations of the male genital capsule (lateral view), subgenital plate (ventral view), connective, style and aedeagus (ventral view) of B. ornatus . However, based on study of the holotype, his illustrations of the median process of the pygofer and anal tube are inaccurate. In the holotype, the pygofer process is long and somewhat straight, except at the apex, where it bends ventrally; also the apex is not bifurcate, but multifurcate, somewhat asymmetrically, with the right process ending in four tooth-like processes, while the left one has three (similar to what is illustrated in Figs. 16C–E View FIGURE 16 ). Specimens vary in the hind tibia AD row with 5–6 cucullate setae and PD row with 12–15 cucullate setae.
Barolineocerus ornatus shares affinities with B. chiasmus , B. furcatus , B. ornatus , B. dercyae sp. nov., B. chicomendesi sp. nov., and B. digitatus sp. nov. as mentioned earlier. It is particularly similar to B. chiasmus , B. chicomendesi sp. nov., and B. digitatus sp. nov., differing in having the pygofer processes multifurcate ( Figs. 16C–E View FIGURE 16 ).
