REMARKS

A single species of Aethosciurus occurs in West Africa: P. A. poensis A. Smith, 1830 . Two specimens were captured by M. Lamotte on Mount Nimba (MNHN-ZM-1987-135 and MNHN-ZM-2001-1275). Misonne & Verschuren (1976) found two specimens in Liberia and Coe (1975) found four individuals. Six specimens were recorded in NMK (NMK 96, 254, 263, 285, 290, 337). No new specimens were collected during our surveys but in 2017 one specimen was caught by a camera-trap on the Liberian side ( Appendix 7B).
