These otoliths share a majority of the N. bilineata otoliths’ features, including having prominent Amp, Mn, and shallow ILb. This makes the two Netuma species quite indistinguishable from each other. However here, some N. thalassina otoliths tend to have compact straight Sl (n= 5), and most of them have compact curved Sl (n= 11).
