This species was described by Murray (1910) from Australia. It is the only Pseudechiniscus species with long setiform appendages E. Claxton (2004) investigated newly found specimens attributed to this species and suggested that it should be transferred to the genus Antechiniscus (publication in preparation, S. Claxton, pers. comm.).
