TYPE MATERIAL. — AFghanistan • Ghus to Shasgr; 1879; J.W. Johnston 161; lecto-, K[K 000759455] photo!
ETYMOLOGY. — The specific epithet refers to low plants
PHENOLOGY. — Flowering and fruiting from June to September.
DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT. — Eastern Mediterranean to Central Asia and Mongolia; new record for Mongolia, occurring in Umnugobi province. It grows on grassland.

TAXONOMIC NOTES
Lycium depressum View in CoL and L. dasystemum Pojark View in CoL exhibit morphological similarities, but can be distinguished by their floral characteristics: the filament bases and adjacent corolla tubes are pubescent in L. depressum View in CoL , while these structures are glabrous in L. dasystemum ( Nowak et al. 2020) View in CoL .
