In Algeria, the spider family Lycosidae (Wolf spiders) is represented by 46 species, belonging to 13 genera: Allocosa Banks, 1900 : Alopecsa Simon, 1885; Arctosa C.L. Koch, 1847 ; Evippa Simon, 1882 ; Hippasosa Roewer, 1960 ; Hogna Simon, 1885 ; Lycosa Latreille, 1804 ; Megarctosa Caporiacco, 1948 ; Pardosa C.L. Koch, 1847 ; Pirata Sundevall, 1833 ; Trabea Simon, 1876 ; Trochosa C.L. Koch, 1847 and Wadicosa Zyuzin, 1985 . Many of them are poorly diagnosed and in need of revision.
