hesperoides ( Stenagrotis ), 1945: 74. [ Noctuinae . Noctuini ] ( Fig. 117 View FIGURES 114–129 )
Current status. Atlantagrotis hesperoides [ Poole 1989]
Type status (description). Allotype female in Köhler’s collection.
Type locality and collectors. [ Argentina]— Chubut: Comodoro Rivadavia , 5.xii.1938 (V. Oort) .
Type specimens. ZSM: Holotype ♀. Argentina, Prov. Chubut, Comodoro Rivadavia , 5.XII.1938. V. Oort leg. Old label: Com. Riv.-27, 5.12.1938, V.O. With label “Abdomen gerlebt!”.
Figures. Köhler, 1955: figs 1- 4 male genitalia (#907). Köhler, 1967: fig. 101 allotype (♂) [with abdomen broken].
Remarks. As mentioned in material and methods, Köhler used to designate females as allotype, even when he had only one specimen. We think that it is highly probable that he later relabeled it as holotype, also that he was able to found males ( Köhler 1955) and arbitrary designated one as allotype ( Köhler 1967). This last specimen has a broken abdomen as if it had had its genitalia removed, so it is very likely that it is the same specimen of the genitalia #907 ( Köhler 1955).
