irritans ( Euxoa ), 1945: 84. [ Noctuinae . Noctuini ] ( Fig. 139 View FIGURES 130–145 )
Current status. Feltia irritans [ Lafontaine 2004]
Type status (description). Cotypes in Köhler’s, Breyer’s collections, and Instituto Lillo (Tucumán) .
Type locality and collectors. [ Argentina]— Córdoba : Yacanto (Köhler) .
Type specimens. ZSM: Syntype ♂. Argentina, Prov. Tucumán, Tucumán, P. Koehler leg. Old label: Tucumán, Leg. Köhler. Genitalia slide #622 .
Figures. Köhler, 1945: fig. 6c male genitalia (slide #622). Köhler, 1967: fig. 59 male.
Remarks. Although we could not find specimens of the type series that coincide with the locality given in the description, the syntype specimen mentioned has a preparation of genitalia that matches with that mentioned in the description of the species. Therefore, we can be sure that Köhler (1945) had this specimen in his possession at the time of making the description, even though he did not cite the locality of that specific specimen.
At the IFML there are two other syntype specimens with the following specifications: ♀, Morenillo, Dpto. R. Frontera, III or IV.1935 [impossible to differentiate accurately]; ♂ Pedro Luro, 6.4, Gahan Leg., Genitalia #751. As the locality of these specimens is different from that mentioned in the description, we cannot be sure that they belong to the type series without a doubt, although it is very likely.
