The species was described in the subgenus Meliboeoides and so it was recorded by Volkovitsh (2004).

Distribution: Niehuis (1989) described this species from the Middle East, the type material was collected in Turkey (holotype), Israel (allotype, paratypes), Iran (paratypes) and Syria (paratypes).

Host plants: Volkovitsh (2004) noted that the species was collected by sweeping Onopordum .
