Range:— Panama to French Guiana, Amazonian Brazil, and Bolivia (BE, CH, LP, PA, SC).
Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid, deciduous, and secondary forests, often in dense thickets; 200–1500 m.
Notes:— Variable in pubescence (glabrous or with hairs 0.1–1 mm long), size of indusia (apparently absent to mid-sized), and presence or absence of buds. It probably hybridizes with several other species.
