Annual, biennial or perennial; stems 15-60 cm. Lower leaves oblong-ovate, petiolate, glabrescent; the upper ovate, sessile. Bracts cordate. Calyxlobes obtuse, ciliate. Corolla 10-12 x 3-5-5 mm, yellow, sometimes with 5 violet spots in the throat; lobes lanceolate, acuminate, erect, almost as long as the rest of the corolla. C. & E. Europe, northwards to c. 53° N., and extending westwards to S.E. France; sometimes casual elsewhere. Al Au Bu?Cr Cz Ga Ge G r He Hu It Ju Po Rm Rs (C, W, K) Si Tu [BI].
