Glabrous herbs, often with slightly twining shoot-apices. Leaves opposite, long-petiolate. Flowers in axillary, many-flowered cymes. Corolla contorted in bud; lobes patent at anthesis. Corona single; segments 5, free, without awns. Pollinia erect. Follicles narrowly ovoid, acuminate, smooth.
