Shrubs, with erect or twining stems. Leaves opposite. Flowers in axillary cymes. Corolla contorted in bud; lobes more or less erect at anthesis. Corona single, with 5 free, abaxially awned segments. Follicles cylindrical, slightly sulcate, not spiny.
