Biennial 3-40 cm, simple or branched above, forming a racemose inflorescence. Cauline leaves narrowly ovate, obtuse, except the uppermost which are acuminate, glabrous. Calyx-lobes shorter than to as long as the tube, 2 wider than the others, linear, glabrous; margin flat or revolute; sinus obtuse or subacute. Corolla 18-25 mm, purplish or yellowish. Capsule stipitate. 2« = 36. • E.C. Europe and N. half of Balkan peninsula, mainly in the mountains. Au Bu Cz Ge Ju Po Rm Rs (W).

Autumnal: Gentianella lutescens subsp. carpatica (Hayek) J. Holub , op. cit. 119 (1967), non Gentiana carpatica Kit. (G. carpaticola Borbâs, G. praecox subsp. carpatica Hayek ).
