Biennial 4-20 cm, simple or with short branches. Lower cauline leaves narrowly lanceolate, upper lanceolate, papillose-ciliate on the margin and midrib beneath. Calyx-lobes somewhat unequal, lanceolate, flat or slightly recurved, shortly hirsute on the margin and midrib beneath; sinus acute. Corolla 15- 26 mm, little exceeding the calyx, violet.
